My BFF

For those of you that don't know, a good friend of mine had a baby boy, Landon, six weeks before I had Cooper. We didn't exactly plan to get pregnant at the same time, but it's worked out well. We joke that the boys are best friends even though they don't know that the other exists yet. Cooper's girlfriend will be born to my friend April on March 18 (or at least that's when she's due to arrive).

Anyway, yesterday I babysat Landon for the day. It's kind of like watching twins since they are so close in age. They even have the same feeding schedule, which can make things difficult. Luckily yesterday was pretty easy. They timed out their eating so that I fed them one after the other. They took naps at the same time and were easily entertained with my singing and shaking rattles and toys in their faces. That's when the cutest thing EVER happened...they held hands as they laid next to each other on the bed. How cute is this! And yes, I know Landon is wearing a Thanksgiving bib and that Thanksgiving was three months ago, but, he had just eaten and that happened to be the bib I had handy when I fed him. :)

O.M.G. my baby is F.A.T.

As of 2:25 a.m. yesterday morning, Cooper was exactly 14 weeks old. As of 11 a.m. yesterday morning Cooper weighed more than 16 lbs. I know I always said I wanted a chubby baby, but he's got chub on top of chub! Pretty sure that he's abnormally chubby, I looked up the average size of a 14 week old baby...12.75 lbs and 23.75 inches (he's also 25 inches long, BTW). My next step was to get out the growth chart and see how he stacks up...he's in the 90th percentile for weight. For a kid that lost too much weight in his first few days, he's definitely made up the difference. I wonder if the pediatrician is going to yell at me at our next visit (which is 4/16 in case you were wondering). Whatever, this chubby baby is great for cuddling and seems to never be cold! :) I LOVE this chubber!

Coach Erickson, I'm ready to sign my letter of intent

I have been waiting for this day! Finally my chubby baby is big enough to wear his Arizona State gear. Yes, this shirt says it's for a 6 month old, but Coop's advanced when it comes to weight...actually, this shirt is a little snug on him.

I'm sure he'll follow in the footsteps of some of my favorite Sun Devils football alums like Adam Archuleta and Pat Tillman and become an NFL safety or maybe Jake Plummer and become a pro QB. Whatever he decides, I know he'll be great!

Roadtrip

As some of you know, we headed to the valley of the sun this weekend to see Grandma and Grandpa Segal. Of course everyone enjoyed our visit. Mom and Dad did a lot of sleeping and eating while Grandma and Grandpa did a lot of Coop cuddling. We even had lunch with Great Grandma Bea. And, even though it took 9.5 hours to get home, Coop was a champ in the car. What a trooper!

My new favorite thing and ramblings about the mall

Okay, I know that Coop can't eat food for another three months, but I wanted to be prepared. Before Christmas I saw this baby food maker thing in a catalog and fell in love with it! I researched it, watched the "how to" video online and decided I had to have it. Coop deserves the best, which includes homemade baby food. So, last weekend we were at the mall (for six hours! see below for more on this outing) and there it was! The Beaba Babycook Babyfood maker thing!

So, both Tonia and I scooped one up (along with the cookbook). I can't wait to try this thing out. Seriously, who would have ever thought that this is the kind of thing that would have made my day...my week!

So, yes, we were at the mall for six hours while the dads played golf. Tonia and I strolled the mall looking at baby clothes and home goods pushing empty strollers while our babies were strapped to us via the Baby Bjorn. I'm sure people were looking at us, but whatever. Anyway, after making our purchases of the Babycook both kids got a little fussy so we stood by a bench in the middle off the mall rocking the little guys. This is when some one asked if they were twins. Do these two kids look like twins? Umm, no. Granted the woman only saw the back of their heads, but even their heads don't look like they are related. Crazy lady. The lady at Williams-Sonoma also seemed perplexed by the fact that we had kids about the same age. Why is this so strange to people? Yes, they are close in age. Yes, we were pregnant at the same time. Yes, they do have some of the same outfits but have yet to wear them at the same time. :)

Proud Papa

Coop visited Yamaha yesterday so everyone could oooh and aaah over his cuteness. Of course, his daddy took the opportunity to get him on his first ATV...

Future Centerfold?

Seriously, who does this kid think he is?
